No purchase necessary. One valid entry per contestant.

 

You must be 21 years of age or older at time of entry to be eligible for this contest. This contest is void where prohibited by law.

 

Official contest period is from October 1, 2014 to November 19, 2014.

 

All entrants’ information may be transferred to Winston-Salem Journal marketing & promotional databases for email and/ or text correspondence. 

 

Contest entrants agree to abide by the terms of these Official Rules and by the decisions of the contest commissioners, which are final on all matters pertaining to the contest.

 

Entrants further grant to Winston Salem Journal the right to use and publish their proper name and state online and in print, or any other media, in connection with the Contest for up to 12 months after contest ends (11/19/15).

1. How To Enter The Cabinet Studio Home Office Makeover Contest:

a.         Participant must complete all fields of the entry form, with up to three photos and up to 175 word description.  Entries will be accepted through midnight Sunday, October 26, 2014 at  JournalNow.Com/makeover

b.         One entry per household. Multiple entries will not increase the odds of winning and may be subject to disqualification.

 This contest is in no way endorsed, promoted, administered or sponsored by Facebook.  All contest administration, including entry processing and choosing of winner is conducted by Winston-Salem Journal staff. The single action of "Liking" the Winston-Salem Journal on Facebook does not automatically enter one into the promotional contest. They must submit their name, email, age and address.

2. Eligibility:

a.         Contestants must be legal residents of the U.S. and 21 years or older at time of participation.

b.         Employees of Winston-Salem Journal and Cabinet Studio, Inc. their immediate families, and their respective distributors, affiliates, subsidiaries, and advertising and promotional agencies are NOT ELIGIBLE.

c.         Void where restricted or prohibited by law.

d.          Contest entrants must own and reside in the residence containing the contest entry and the residence must be within 30 miles of Cabinet Studio, Inc.  (1033 Burke Street, Winston-Salem, NC 27104)

 

3. Prizes:

a.         One winner will receive a home office makeover. See item 7 for details.

b.         Contest winner will be announced on Friday, November 21st, 2014.  The winner will be notified within 24 hours of that date via email.  If a winner is unreachable after seven (7) days, or if that winner is unavailable for prize fulfillment, an alternate winner will be selected.  If WS Journal cannot find an eligible winner for the prize, that prize will not be awarded.  All results posted are unofficial until winners respond to e-mail notification.

c.         All prizes or prize certificates may be picked up at the business offices of Cabinet Studio, Inc.  1033 Burke Street, Winston-Salem, NC 27104. Pick-ups must be made during regular business hours M-F 9:00am-5:00pm. 

d.          Automated voting of any kind is not allowed.  Detection of said automated voting will lead to votes being voided. 

e.           Only one registered account per voter.  If multiple accounts are detected for a single voter, they will be disabled and votes disqualified.

f.          Images shown in contest advertisements are not of the actual contest prize.  They are for communicating what the contest is about; actual prize will vary.  No transfer, substitution or cash equivalent for prizes allowed except at Cabinet Studio’s  sole discretion due to prize unavailability and then only for a prize of equal or greater value.

g.         Potential winner(s) will be required to execute a Liability Release. If the potential winner fails to complete the document at the time s/he picks up the prize, is found to be ineligible or does not comply with the Official Rules, then the potential winner will be disqualified.

h.         All federal, state, or other tax liabilities (including income taxes) arising from this contest will be the sole responsibility of each winner.  The winner will be required to complete an IRS form W-9.  Sponsor reserves the right to withhold prizes until completed form W-9 is received.

i.          Except where prohibited by law, the winner’s entry and acceptance of the prize constitutes permission for the Contest Entities to use said winner’s name, initials, photograph, likeness, statements, biographical information, voice, and city and state address on a worldwide basis, and in all forms of media (including digital), in perpetuity, without further compensation.  WS Journal reserves the right to use any and all information related to the contest, including information on contestants obtained through the contest, for marketing purposes or any other purpose, unless prohibited by law. 

 

Winston Salem Journal reserves the right to substitute any prize with another prize of equal or greater value.

 

The winner, by acceptance of the prize, agrees to release all Sponsors, and their parent and subsidiary companies, their officers, directors, employees, agents, shareholders, affiliates, suppliers, distributors, and advertising agencies from all liability, claims, or actions of any kind whatsoever for injuries, damages, or losses to persons and property which may be sustained in connection with the receipt, ownership, or use of the prize.

 

The Winston-Salem Journal and BH Media is in no way responsible for cancellations and/ or changes to the prize that is of equivalent value.

 

Winner’s information may be used for promotional purposes by the Winston-Salem Journal for up to 12 months after the contest end date.

 

 

4. Selection of Winners:

 

a.         All decisions of Cabinet Studio Inc management with respect to contests are final.

b.         Up to 10 finalists will be chosen by Cabinet Studio Inc. and WS Journal based on the submitted photos and description, plus evaluation of the scale and suitability of the project. Final winner will then be selected by public vote through WS Journals Facebook page.    Voting period begins on Tuesday, October 28th  and ends at midnight on Wednesday, November 19th, 2014.

 

 

5. Contest Conditions:

 

a.         This Contest is subject to all federal, state and local laws. By participating, entrants agree to be bound by these Official Rules and the decisions of  Cabinet Studio Inc. and waive any right to claim ambiguity in the Contest or these Official Rules. Winners and entrants also agree to release, discharge, indemnify and hold harmless Cabinet Studio, Inc from and against any claims, damages or liability due to any injuries, damages, or losses to any person, including death, or property of any kind resulting in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from acceptance, possession, misuse or use of any prize or participation in this Contest.

 

6. Limitations of Liability:

 

a.        Cabinet Studio, Inc. and WS Journal are not responsible for lost, late, misdirected, undeliverable, or incomplete entries, and is not responsible for Internet crashes, or slowdowns caused by network congestion, viruses, sabotage, satellite failures, phone line failures, electrical outages, natural disasters or acts of man or God.  Cabinet Studio, Inc. may prohibit an entrant from participating in the Contest or winning a prize if, in its sole discretion, it determines that said entrant is attempting to undermine the legitimate operation of the Contest by cheating, deception, or other unfair playing practices or intending to annoy, abuse, threaten, or harass any other entrants or Cabinet Studio, Inc. representatives.   If for any reason this Contest is not capable of running as planned as a result of any causes beyond the reasonable control of Cabinet Studio including but not limited to tampering, unauthorized intervention or fraud which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity, or proper conduct of the Contest, then, Cabinet Studio, Inc. reserves the right at its sole discretion to cancel, terminate, modify, or suspend the Contest.

 

b.         The Contest and all of the related pages, contents and code are copyright, UPICKEM, and/or Winston Salem Journal.  Copying or unauthorized use of any copyrighted materials, trademarks or any other intellectual property without the express written consent of its owner is strictly prohibited.

 

c.  This contest is not intended for gambling.  If it is determined that a contestant is using the contest for gambling purposes they will be disqualified and reported to authorities.

 

7. Prize Description: One winner will receive the following Home Office Makeover prize package.

a.  A complete redesign for the home office space by a Cabinet Studio designer.

b.  A custom designed office workstation from Cabinet Studio, Inc.

Retail Value of $3,000.

Plus:

A desk chair, desk lamp, area rug, framed bulletin board, and framed

piece of artwork.

Retail Value of $1,000

Total value  of Prize Package:  $4,000.

 

c. All costs for labor and materials not specifically itemized above will be billed at Cabinet Studio’s usual rate. Contest winner will sign an itemized contract that specifies items included in the contest value and details all relevant costs over and above the contest value based on agreed upon design specifications for the project.

All results posted are unofficial until winners respond to e-mail and/ or telephone notification.

VOTING:

Voting is limited to one vote per day per valid, active email address.  If an entrant receives multiple and/or irregular votes or multiple votes from the same user or users, including but not limited to, votes generated by a robotic, programmed, script, macro, other automated means or other source, Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify the entrant in its sole discretion.  If the contest includes the use of an internet tool and the internet voting process fails to operate properly or appears to be tampered with or tainted with errors, fraud or unfair practices, the Sponsor reserves the right to use another means to determine the winner(s), i.e. random selection or appointing a panel of judges.  Any participant suspected of using a proxy for voting will be disqualified. All registration information submitted by voters to the contest must be valid. In the event the Sponsor believes a registration was not valid or violated these rules, any votes related to such registration will be disqualified. Automated voting is not allowed and such votes will be disqualified. Any individual or organization found employing third-party resources, whether domestic or abroad, for the purpose of creating multiple registrations or generating votes in violation of these rules, either automatically or manually, will be immediately disqualified. Votes may not be sold, bought or paid for. All registration and voting must follow these Official Rules. All decisions of the Sponsor are final.

 

INTERNET

It is the Entrant’s responsibility to enter in the appropriate manner. Each Entrant is responsible for all costs or charges involved in accessing the wwwcantonrep.com website and warrants that the cost of accessing the site, if any, is part of a larger agreement with an Internet Service Provider or some other means, and that the cost of this access is not an incremental cost. If for any reason the internet portion of the program is not capable of running as planned, including infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes beyond the control of BH Media which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity, or proper conduct of this Contest, BH Media reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual who tampers with the entry process, and to cancel, terminate, modify, or suspend the Contest. Should the online portion of the Contest be terminated prior to July 24, 2014, finalists will be drawn at days-end from eligible entries received online up to the time of cancellation. BH Media assumes no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communication line failure, theft, or destruction or unauthorized access to, or alteration of entries. BH Media is not responsible for lost, misdirected, illegible, damaged or undelivered entries. BH Media is not responsible for any problems or technical malfunctions of any telephone network or lines, computer online systems, services or providers, computer equipment, software, failure of any email or entry to be received due to technical problems or traffic congestion on the internet or at any web site, or any combination thereof, including any injury or damage to participant's or any other person's computer related to or resulting from participation or downloading of any material in this Contest. CAUTION: Any attempt by an Entrant to deliberately damage any website or undermine the legitimate operation of the Contest is a violation of criminal and civil laws and should such an attempt be made, BH Media reserves the right to seek damages from any such person to the fullest extent permitted by law. In the event of a dispute, entries made by Internet will be declared made by the authorized account holder of the e-mail address submitted at time of entry. "Authorized account holder" is defined as the natural person who is assigned to an e-mail address by an Internet access provider, online service provider, or other organization (e.g. business, educational institution, etc.) that is responsible for assigning e-mail addresses for the domain associated with the submitted e-mail address. Automated entries are prohibited, and any use of such devices will cause disqualification. Collection and use of personally identifiable information will be in accordance with the Winston-Salem Journal/www.journalnow.com Privacy Policy as posted on www.journalnow.com.

CONDITIONS

By entering, Entrants agree to comply with these Official Rules and the decisions of BH Media, which are binding and final, and release BH Media, and each of its divisions, affiliates, parent companies, subsidiaries, advertising and promotion agencies and anyone associated with the production of this Contest, and their respective directors, officers, employees and agents from any and all liability for any claims, injuries, losses or damages (including attorneys’ fees) of any kind arising out of their participation in this Contest or resulting from acceptance, possession, use or misuse of any prize. The potential prize winners waive the right to assert as a cost of winning the prize any and all costs of verification and redemption or travel to redeem said prize and waives any liability or claims (including attorneys’ fees) which might arise from redeeming or seeking to redeem said prize. In the event of non-compliance with these Official Rules, or if prize notification is returned to BH Media as undeliverable, if prize is refused or cannot be accepted for any reason, the prize will be forfeited and an alternate winner will be selected in a random drawing. Upon forfeiture or refusal, no compensation will be given. Acceptance of prize constitutes permission to use the winner's name, photograph, likeness, Contest submissions and/or statements attributed to winners regarding the Contest, for advertising and publicity purposes without further compensation or consent. All entries become the property of BH Media. This Contest shall only be construed and evaluated according to the laws of the state of North Carolina, without regard to the principles of conflicts of laws and submission of any entry constitutes acceptance of such laws. This Contest is void where prohibited. All federal, state and local laws and regulations apply.

BH Media and its affiliates reserve the right to use any and all information related to the Contest, including information on Entrants obtained through the Contest, for marketing purposes or any other purpose, unless prohibited by law.

BH Media and the Winston-Salem Journal reserve the right to change the rules of the Contest at any time.
